Thursday Flew By!

Happy Thursday everyone. The kids were fantastic today. I had several bring in the secret word and/or answer to the secret math problem. Yeah! Keep watching for more ways to earn extra credit or maybe even some kind of treat. (Food is always important in the 6th grade:) Tomorrow we will be talking about our Valentine's Party. I divide the students into different groups and each group is in charge of organizing part of the celebration. For example, the Decorations committee will decide how we decorate the room and then decorate it during lunch recess. Other committees are the Food Committee, Entertainment Committee, Set up/Clean up Committee. Our party will be Friday, February 13 from 12:40-2:00. I encourage people to bring healthy treats such as pretzels, cheese, vegies, fruit. Also, if your child chooses to give Valentine's Day cards, he or she will need to give one to every class member. (We will make a list on Friday.) We don't want any hurt feelings. I think it would be fun for each student to create their own Valentine's Day box. Remember when you were in elementary school and your got out the craft paper, markers, tin foil etc. and created the most awesome robot Valentine's box ever? Well, I think it would be exciting to let these kids show off their creativity. So, your assignment is to create, make a mess (and clean it up), and have fun! Bring in your boxes on Friday, February 13--ready to display.
