A Great Day at Camp Cadre

I had a great day at Camp Cadre today. I am part of a group of teachers learning, sharing, and exploring technology. We had a great time today learning about GeoGreetings and then going out with our digital cameras and finding pictures of the letters of the alphabet formed in our community. Then my group used PhotoShop to create the word inspire out of our pictures. I encourage my students and their families to go out and look at the world with a different perspective. Take unique pictures, lie on the ground and look up at the branches of a tree, go to the park and look at the swings from a different angle. It was really fun! The following is an example of what we did:

We also created a Voki. My class should remember these!

Conferences are a Success!

Thank you to all of you who took the time to come visit with me about your child. I absolutely love getting to meet the parents of my students.
Remember to be working on your amusement park ride. Marbles and worksheets went home on Monday.
Some are having trouble in math. Please know that students are welcome to come in my class at 8:00 am to get help.
We have started earning AR points. All students have a ZPD or range from which they are to choose books. If students read in this "zone" then they will see the most growth. Our AR store opens on Wednesday. Read, read, read! Some available items in our store include: working in another teacher's class, extra recess, extra computer time, free assignments, extra credit, juice, pop, candy, and blizzards from Dairy Queen.
Speaking of Dairy Queen, I have several students who have earned a blizzard for First Quarter perfect attendance. They are Samantha, Duane, Alexis, Connor, Ethan, and Tommy! We'll eat lunch together on Thursday and then enjoy some ice cream.
Have a fantastic night!
