Coin Drive

Bitterroot is having a coin drive. One of our families at Bitterroot recently lost their home and all of their belongings to a fire. The class of the student who was affected wanted to help out. They decided to collect coins and then donate them to the family to help pay for items needed. If you would like to help, then please send any change to school with your child. We greatly appreciate your generosity and we know the family will also.
Thank you,
The Bitterroot Staff

Vacation is almost here!

It's hard for me to believe that there are only 10 days left before our winter break. Today we are going on a field trip to the Moss Mansion. It will be decorated for Christmas and we are excited to see it and learn about its history.
We have quite a bit to do before we vacation. We are about finished with our novel, Stepping on the Cracks. We've enjoyed reading this and as we read we have worked on many concepts such as analogies, cause/effect, character analysis, compare/contrast, and finding main ideas of the chapter to include in our summaries. Yesterday we took our math chapter 3 test. We will begin chapter 4--Adding and Subtracting Fractions. Next week the PTA will be having Santa's Workshop. The children can bring a list of people they need to shop for and money and buy presents. They usually have a great selection to choose from and reasonable prices. Everyone wins! Our lass will go to Santa's workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 8:30-9:00.
I wish all of you peace.
Chris Morales

Hi. It is Friday, October 17. I just want to let my students and their parents know that Red Ribbon Week will be Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, October 31. Each day we have a theme.
Monday: Drugs stink. Wear Pink
Tuesday: Lei off drugs. (Wear Hawaiian Lei)
Wednesday: You can. I can. We all can stay away from drugs. (Bring a can of
food for the Food Bank.)
Thursday: No drugs in the past. No drugs in the future. (Dress retro.)

This should be fun. I hope everyone will participate. The PTA has also purchased bracelets, suckers, pencils and stickers for all of the kids. THANKS PTA!

Friendly Reminders:

THE ULTIMATE PENNY WAR: Our school is still collecting loose change for Huntley Project School. So far we have $175 and we still have 1 more week to go!!! Way to go Bitterroot families!
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES ARE COMING! The dates are Wednesday, November 5 and Thursday, November 7. Today I sent home a bright green sheet of paper for parents to sign up for their top 2 choices for conference day and time. I am scheduling my own this year. Our school is meeting in order to schedule families' conferences as close together as possible. If at all possible, I encourage parents to make a conscientious decision to schedule your conference together. This will help me and the staff here at school because there are only so many time slots available. Thank you!

Hope you will visit my blog often. Feel free to write back. Please remember that this is not confidential. If you have a concern specific to your child, please email, write, or call me.

Thank you and have a great week!
