Wow! It's Spring!

I love this weather! It's hard to stay focused on school work with this beautiful weather. I do believe the 6th graders are focusing though. Everyone continues to get all of their work in on time. Soon, Chris Dixon will be coming for an hour long recess to help us celebrate this success.
In reading we have started the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. If you can tell me what genre this book is in, you will receive extra credit in reading. I forgot to assign the homework today....so....if you would like to get a head start the homework that will be assigned tomorrow is for you to create the ultimate mouse house. It must be 3-D. Use your imagination. Create. Make a mess (clean it up though). We will share on Monday.
In buddies we have been working long and hard at developing a slideshow presentation of a monster story that each pair wrote. The lesson has included measurement (math), writing a story (language arts), developing a slideshow and editing the story (technology), creating a movie poster to advertise the slideshow (art, language arts), and finally presenting the slideshow to an audience. Wow! The work that is coming from this group of kids is amazing! Both Mrs. Betts and myself are very impressed.
In math we have been continuing to work on integers and geometry. Integers can be somewhat difficult so I've mixed in some fun geometry art.
I do have a few more dates for you to mark on your calendar.
*This Thursday is snack sales after school. Shannon Merchen is helping with that.:)
*Friday is Pajama Day and Student Council Meeting at 8 a.m.
*Also, all Read-a-thon calendars are due Friday. Bring them to school so we can win a pizza party!
*We visit Castle Rock on May 13!

Thanks!
