Brain Teaser

Dice game

May 20, 2009
There are three fair 6 sided dice (A, B and C). However, they don't have the normal numbers from 1 to 6. Each die is as follows:

A - 2,2,4,4,9,9
B - 3,3,5,5,7,7
C - 1,1,6,6,8,8

The game is played between 2 people. Basically, you each pick a die and roll it once. Whoever gets the highest number wins that round. Luckily you get the choice of who gets to pick the first die. In order to win as much as possible:

1. Should you have first or second choice?
2. Which die should you choose?

As a family, with a friend, or individually, try to figure this out. It's worth extra credit in math...just for trying.

Conference for Parents and Students

Hello all,
I am very pleased to let you know that MSUB has secured John Halligan (see attached bio) as the keynote speaker for our SAFE SCHOOL SAFE COMMUNITY conference this summer on bullying, cyber-bullying and suicide. John has appeared on Oprah and several other prominent talk shows telling the story of his 13 year old son Ryan who committed suicide five years ago after he was ridiculed and humiliated by peers at school and on-line. John is a dynamic speaker with a powerful message. In addition to conference goers having the privilege of hearing John’s message we are inviting any school students who want to come to attend his presentation for free. His presentation will take place July 21 from 9:00a – 10:30a., MSU Billings Main Campus Student Union Building Ballroom. (To clarify, only students will be admitted at no charge.)

I am going to need your assistance to get the word out to your students before school is out. Please let me know what other information I can provide you with in order to do that.

This is very exciting for our conference and our community. I look forward to hearing from you to know how we can get the word out to kids, parents and teachers and counselors.
Thanks,
Kim

Thanks to the Yellowstone County Tavern Association, we are able to bring in this nationally recognized speaker.

Adults may come for free if they are accompanied by a child. Nancy can you please pass that information on.
